It is our great pleasure to invite you to share a fun, casual evening of cocktails and Art on the Patio. We are excited to resurrect an event last held in 2017—and our first Fall Fundraiser since 2019! Nan and Jack Boyne have graciously invited us to gather at their lovely home in Raleigh, September 16 from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. We will enjoy hors d’oeuvres and drinks by their beautiful pool and will have the opportunity to bid on fabulous items in a Silent Auction. Past offerings included original paintings, jewelry, fine photography, pottery, vacation spots, vintage wines and gift certificates. You won’t want to miss this year’s auction!
We gather to support the Joel Lane Museum House, the “Birthplace of NC’s Capital,” built ca. 1769. Today the Joel Lane House is a working museum house offering educational tours and events to school children and the public, most recently welcoming more than 700 visitors for a free Independence Day celebration. Our mission is to bring American history to life by providing a rich understanding of regional North Carolina history and the struggles, sacrifices, and achievements of all those who lived in Piedmont North Carolina in the 18th century, with particular emphasis on the life and times of Colonel Joel Lane, his family, and the 43 people enslaved on his plantation. This event will raise funds needed to continue our mission of outreach and preservation of this fine museum house.
